Hotel Chocolat

Hotel Chocolat from the Boucan hotel group is highly recommended when staying on the island of Saint Lucia. Why? Because it’s situated on the most beautiful part of the island, away from the other enormous hotels/resorts, in a more secluded area. But the most important reason to go here is to immerse yourself in a world of chocolate. The entire resort (14 beautiful cottages) is built on a plantation that’s been harvesting cacao since the 1700’s. As a guest at the resort you can harvest your own cacao and make chocolate from it. Not in the mood for Do It Yourself? You can also just order the “Full Cacao” spa treatment or just kick back with a poolside martini.

La Gree des Landes

The French region Brittany is more of a top10 destination than you might think. Not only the coastal area with it’s magnificent panoramic views, but also the inlands offer great spots for a weekend get-away. One of our favorites: La Gree des Landes, a unique eco-spa hotel like you’ve never seen before. This spa, built and developed by the Yves Rocher group, is ecological in every single way. Not only do they cook with biologically grown fruits and vegetables, they have eco wooden beds and eco paint on the wall. The spa works with Yves Rocher’s wonderful, ecological products. Perfect for a de-stressing break over the weekend. Had enough of the massages and hammam treatments? The area of La Gacilly (mr. Yves Rocher’s place of birth) is great for long walks in nature or great luncheons at the local restaurants, serving Brittany’s specialties. (Try the crepes and cider: delicieux.)

Blancaneaux Lodge

Paradise in the rainforest – there is no other way to describe this beautiful hideaway in Belize’s Mountain Pine Ridge Reserve. Owner Francis Ford Coppola actually used Blancaneaux Lodge as a family retreat before opening it to the public. And we’re so happy he did. This luxury resort has 20 rooms but the staff and the quietness of the rainforest make you feel like you’re the only ones there. Next to “normal” cabañas (with private pools!), they offer larger family cabanas, a 2-bedroom villa with open-air living room and the enchanted cottage, where Coppola probably wrote many of his famous screenplays. The resort has both an Italian and a Guatamalan restaurant where they are more than happy to pour you a glass of wine from the Francis Coppola Winery. Is there anything this man can’t do?? If all this great service, relaxing pools and the flowing river get too boring for you, there are plenty opportunities to seek adventure. Take a tour across the Guatamalan border to see the Maya sites of Tikal, go horseback riding at sunrise or go tubing in the famous ATM caves. Blancaneaux Lodge is the perfect place to explore beautiful Belize in a luxurious and enchanting way.

QC Terme Milano

OK, going to a spa might not be the first thing on your list when visiting Milan. At QC Terme Milano however, you will feel like a Roman goddess (or god for that matter) in this beautiful building surrounded by 16th-century walls. So you can actually consider this a cultural outing. Besides the large number of pools, jacuzzis, saunas and steam rooms, Terme Milano has a beautiful Spanish garden with hydroactive mineral baths. Between massages and dips in the pool, there are tempting buffets of fresh fruit, cheeses and juices to keep you going. This is not the most fashionable or trendy spa in town but the great location combined with friendly rates makes this a top choice. Instead of spending an entire day plunging, scrubbing and relaxing in the spa, you can also opt for a quick massage after a hard day of…well, shopping.
